Responsibilities and Qualifications

 The Paramedic works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and in collaboration with a Physician for the delivery of efficient, safe patient care in the Emergency Department. The Paramedic performs duties as established by licensure, scope of practice set by the State of Missouri and hospital policies and procedures, and works under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The Paramedic performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and mercy Service Standards.



Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:



  • Education:High School diploma or GED.  Successful completion of a state approved EMT-P program.
  • Certification/Registration: EMT-P Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic - MO upon hire and BLS Basic Life Support card. ETC Paramedics must have current ACLS card or complete a course within 6 months of their hire date. ETC Paramedics must have current PALS, TNCC, and ENPC cards or complete a course within one year of hire date.
  • Experience:2+ years
