We’re a Little Different

Our mission is clear. We bring to life a healing ministry through our compassionate care and exceptional service.

We don’t believe in jobs at Mercy, we believe in careers that match the unique gifts of unique individuals; careers that not only make the most of your skills and talents, but also your heart.

At Mercy, you’ll feel our supportive community every step of your day, especially the tough ones. We’re a team and love working that way. That team is expanding, and we currently have exceptional opportunities to help our communities grow.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Mercy Kids Connect (MKC) Virtual Nurse Consultant’s primary responsibility is to facilitate seamless physician-to-physician telephone communication when a provider has a need for a child across Mercy’s four-state region.

Needs are diverse and include coordinating all relevant care team members to expeditiously meet a provider’s need when:

  • Referring to a clinic-based service
  • Consulting with a Mercy Kids physician
  • Admitting to a pediatric, pediatric intensive care or neonatal intensive care unit
  • Transferring to hospital-based services, including ED-to-ED transfers
  • Transporting a neonate or child with Mercy Kids’ specialized transport services

Daily work occurs through integrated telephonic computer systems and requires detailed documentation in a child’s electronic medical record.

As a liaison between clinic and hospital-based staff, the MKC nurse works collaboratively with independent and Mercy-affiliated health care providers across the Ministry, including physicians, transport teams, clinic office managers and nurses, and hospital admitting departments, among others.

This role is responsible for maintaining a consistent, comprehensive line of communication with referring and primary care providers in regards to a child’s treatment at Mercy.

The nurse is responsible for accurate, complete data collection related to each patient encounter through the program, including reporting, that is utilized at a leadership level to measure success and plan for future grown and development.

Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

  • Required Education: Registered nurse. Preferred education includes a BSN, or associates degree in nursing with a bachelor’s degree in a health-related field
  • Required Licensure: Registered Nurse Missouri License
  • Required Experience: Minimum of three years of pediatric nursing experience in a clinical setting that included physician interaction.
  • Preferred Experience: Working in Epic documenting in patient charts and navigating reports
