Responsibilities and Qualifications

Provides patient care as directed by nurses and physicians.

Proficiently maintains examination rooms appropriately, ordering supplies as needed.


Escorts patient to examination room and takes vital signs.

Proficiently assists with office procedures, including EKG's, cultures, PPD's, etc.

Calls pharmacy with prescriptions, calls patients with lab, test results.

Proficiently draws blood, gives muscular injections, performs chest x-rays, as required.

Assists with flexible sigmoid scopes, Holter monitors, etc. as required.

Other duties as assigned, including the orienting of newly hired medical assistants.

May perform additional job related duties as directed or when needs dictate.



Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:


Education: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program;
Experience: AND two years experience or 4 years comparable experience as a medical assistant. Up to two years specific specialty experience may be required.
