Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Works with surgeon, anesthesiologist, and registered nurses to formulate plan for assigned surgical procedure.
  • Assist surgeon during surgery in a knowledgeable, efficient and courteous manner.
  • Evaluates, maintains, prepares replenishes equipment, instruments, and supplies for efficient utilization for all areas of Family Birthplace (inpatient and outpatient services).
  • Provide a safe environment for patients and co-workers.
  • Universal precautions and infection control guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge as a surgical tech.
  • Participates in organizational activities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
  • Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned.
  • Meets needs of customers and needs of the hospital by flexing hours.
  • Assists with direct patient care as directed.

Education: High School Graduate/GED or 15 years of surgical tech experience.
Experience: 1-2 years (2080 - 4160 hrs) of scrubbing experience in a hospital setting
Certifications: Current BLS Certification required before assigned to care for patients independently
