Receives direction from nurse and reports patient's progress and unusual findings in a timely manner.Assists in the preparation of patient before surgery.
Maintains a clean and comfortable environment. Assists in cleaning and stocking of the department.
Performs tasks that relate preparing for the performance during the surgical procedure by selecting instruments, needed supplies, equipment-operates mechanical,electrical and air powered equipment safely.
Practices aseptic technique, initiates corrective action when breaks in sterile technique have occurred.
Assists the surgeon by staying alert,anticipating needs, keeps a clean, neat working sterile field. Handles all instruments and suture. Participates in sponge, sharps and instruments counts.
Assists in supportive patient care activities to include; specimen collection, transferring of patients, transporting patients, cleaning instruments and equipment.
Attends 80% of staff meetings, remains current with changes in policies/procedures and complies with policies/procedures.
Conserves resources, plans, organizes and evaluates work activities accordingly.
Observes universal precautions consistently.
Wears proper personal protective equipment when appropriate.
Wears clothing and health system badge consistent with dress code, and attends to personal hygiene to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
