The Foundation Grant Manager is responsible for conducting activities required to prepare, submit and manage grant proposals to support Mercy hospitals and clinics. This includes researching, compiling, writing and editing grant applications, as well as developing templates to streamline the grant proposal process. This position will work closely with internal project managers to monitor funding expenditures and outcome reporting and act as liaison with program staff and funding agencies. This position performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write and edit proposals and concept papers in response to grant funding guidelines and comply with all follow-up grant reporting as required.
  • Identify and conduct prospect research for potential grant support.
  • Manage a calendar of grant deadlines.
  • Work in conjunction with designated program staff to identify priority projects and obtain necessary information for grant proposals.
  • Research demographic and other quantitative information in support of proposals.
  • Strategically plan, maintain and track all required actions and records of each grant in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Build relationships with potential and actual contributors in a strategic manner.
  • Work collaboratively with co-workers in the region and throughout communities that may be conducting similar efforts.
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.
  • Attend AHP / AFP / GPA workshops to enhance grant efforts.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Minimum three years experience with grant writing or demonstrated track record in writing persuasive, clear and concise proposals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Able to plan, prioritize, shift priorities if necessary, and coordinate multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Energetic and flexible.
  • Good follow-through.
  • Strongly preferred: three or more years experience working with government grants.
