Responsibilities and Qualifications

Coordinates the care and services of clients along a continuum of behavioral health care. Makes clinical judgments based on a synthesis of concepts, principles, models and theories to solve complex issues. Provides direct consultations to individuals on an outpatient basis acting as a liaison betweenstaff/physicians/providers. Provides education to patients, families, specific groups in the community at large as well as to staff members, actively participating in the integration of practice, education and research. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.


1 Provides psychological care to clients/patients that includes but not limited to:

1.1 The use of verbal and nonverbal counseling techniques, methods, or procedures based on principles for assessing, understanding, or influencing behavior (such as principles of learning, conditioning, perception, motivation, thinking, emotions, or social systems).

1.2 Appraisal or assessment, which means selecting, administering, scoring or interpreting instruments

1.3 The use of referral or placement techniques or both which serve to further the goals of counseling.

1.4 Therapeutic vocational or personal rehabilitation in relation to coping with or adapting to physical disability, emotional disability, emotional disability, or intellectual disability.

1.5 Patient/Family/Groups

1.6 Provides referrals and assists in coordinating follow-up care

1.7 Case Coordination

2 Maintains charting by dictating notes and assuring they are completed in a timely manner.

3 Actively participates in meetings.

4 Communicates with physicians/providers and team members regarding pertinent patient situations.

5 Completes scheduling of appointments in a timely manner, communicating availability to the team.

6 Observes universal precautions. Wears proper personal protective equipment when appropriate. Wears clothing and Health System badge consistent with dress code, and attends to personal hygiene to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance. Meets Health System attendance standards. Performs related duties as requested by Director of Clinical Services or Administrative Director.

Education: Master's degree in Psychology


Licensure: LPC


Certification/Registration: None.


Skills, knowledge and abilities:

Working conditions, mental and physical requirements: must

have valid Texas drivers license and be of sound emotional



Equipment used: computer, fax, copier, telephone, audiovisual
