Performs administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of the physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintain medical records, billing and coding for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording of vital signs and medical histories preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician. Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital, clinic, and laboratory procedures.
Schedules and confirms patient diagnostic appointments, surgeries, and medical consultants.
Compiles and records medical charts, reports, and correspondence.
Receives and routes messages and documents such as laboratory results to appropriate staff.
Greets visitors, ascertains purpose of visit, and directs them to appropriate staff.
Interviews patients to complete documents, case histories, and forms such as intake and insurance forms.
Maintains medical records, technical library and correspondence files.
Records patients' medical history, vital statistics (i.e. pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height) and information such as test results in medical records.
Operates office equipment such as voice mail messaging systems, and use word processing, spreadsheet and other software applications to prepare reports, letters, case histories and medical records.
Transmits correspondence and medical records by mail, e-mail, or fax.
Performs various clerical and administrative functions, such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
Interviews patients to obtain medial information and measure their vital signs, weight and height.
Shows patients to examination rooms and prepares them for the physician.
Collects blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
Explains treatment procedures, medications, diets and physician's instructions to patients.
Assists physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
Responsible for the ordering of various medical tests as directed by physician.

Education: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED
Experience: 2 YEAR EXPERIENCE WITHIN MEDICAL OFFICE PREFERRED
Certifications: CPR required within 3 months of hire. Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA,ACMA, AMT or NCCT) within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Certifications: Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA, AMT or NCCT)
