Provides safe and effective transportation of patients to and from all areas of the health center.
Transports patients to and from all departments in a timely manner.
1.1 Transport all requested uncomplicated wheelchair patients in less than 15 minutes.
1.2 Transport all requested uncomplicated stretcher patients in less than 20 minutes.
Communicates with dispatcher prior to and after each patient transport via SpectraLink phone.
Maintains transport equipment by keeping it clean and in good repair and ready for use.
3.1 Clean transportation equipment on a weekly basis in accordance with posted standards (or if needed after a transport).
3.2 Informs supervisor of all needed repairs involving transportation equipment within 10 minutes of observed defect.
Maintains portable O2 equipment.
4.1 Fills all indicated line walkers daily according to accepted standards.
4.2 Informs supervisor of all needed O2 related repairs within 10 minutes of first observation of defect.
4.3 Demonstrates compliance to safety requirements in handling oxygen equipment.
Demonstrates effective communication skills in interactions with all customers.
5.1 Uses MIS to document patient location 100% of the time
5.2 Uses compassion and patience in communication with patients during transports.
5.3 Verbally expresses thoughts clearly and precisely.
5.4 Uses appropriate grammar and spelling in written communications.
5.5 Successfully completes MIS training in OA and OE applications. Demonstrates competence by effective, appropriate use of the MIS.
6.1 Maintains confidentiality of all patient information at all times.
Monitors patient during transport and always assist as requested, calling unusual occurrences to supervisor's attention 100% of the time.

7.2 Provides for patient comfort as indicated and observes visually for any signs of distress and calls to the attention of supervisor immediately upon arrival to designated area 100% of the time.
7.3 Always assists with patient handling as needed 100% of the time.
Assists in maintaining the overall appearance of the work environment.
8.1 Returns transport equipment to appropriate storage space 100% of the time.
8.2 Follows hospital policies for the disposal of soiled linens.
8.3 Contributes to the clean, orderly appearance of the hospital.
8.4 Wears designated uniforms at all times and name tag.
9.1 Successfully completes "back school" prior to performing job duties.
9.2 Follows safety guidelines in lifting and transporting all patients.
9.3 Uses universal precautions as indicated.
9.4 Maintains awareness of potential environmental hazards.
9.5 Maintains CPR Certification.
Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
10.1 Demonstrates knowledge of the changes associated with aging.
10.2 Demonstrates the ability to provide care based upon physical, psych/social, cultural, safety and other age related factors.
10.3 Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient needs.
Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.

Education: High school graduate or student 16 years of age or older.
Certifications: CPR certification
Other: MIS competence, and completion of body mechanics course.
