This position provides the Assistant Cancer Registrar with experience in the technical aspects of cancer registry operations and compliments the knowledge gained during the academic portion of their training. The Assistant Cancer Registrar will work under the direct supervision of an active Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR).They will obtain experience in the application of abstracting, follow-up, case finding, coordination of Cancer Conference meetings, maintain quality control of all new patients with the initial diagnosis of cancer, acquire understanding of medical terminology, coding cancer diagnosis utilizing ICD-O-3. They will participate in the on line education Certified Cancer Registrars program in order to be eligible to sit for the CTR certification exam.

Associates Degree in related health field.
2 semesters of college level anatomy and physiology
CTR certification required within 2 years of employment.
Other Skills and Knowledge:
Must have a working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical records procedures.
Excellent communication and computer skills required. Ability to flexible, fast learner, highly productive, team player and adapts to change.
Requires accuracy, attention to detail and strong communication skills.
