To organize and facilitate Casa de Misericordia residential and non-residential children’s recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities.
Supervise the planning, organizing, implementing, and recording in the child’s chart of children’s services including, but not limited to support groups, recreational and social groups, and house meetings:,summer camps, spring break activities and holiday events
Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of children and adolescence by interacting and responding to them as individuals and according to their developmental age:
A. Ensure that within 48-72 hours of child resident’s admission, services and orientation are provided in an appropriate to the child’s level of understanding.
B. Reassure children that Casa de Misericordia is a safe place by interacting with the children and reviewing a safety plan through the use of different means: Books, Brochures, Safety rules, etc.
C. Work with the counselors, shelter administrator, and/or other staff members to make sure the children’s
needs are met.
Serve as school liaison between residents and schools to ensure educational needs are met:
A. Collaborate with LISD/UISD(Laredo School Districts) to ensure children are safe and receive services though the Mc Kinney Vento Ac.>
B. Plan and execute and evaluate the tutoring services /available for resident and ex resident children through the local school district.
Respond in a constructive, supportive manner to the resident parent and child in crisis and offer information and referral services to both resident and non-resident parents and children
Respond to and facilitate a response to incoming crisis calls and emergency situations when necessary
Provide individual intervention services to nonresident children when necessary.
Adhere to all policies and procedures as prescribed by Casa de Misericordia and adhere to grants, state and federal regulations including compliance with mandatory reporting regulations (i.e. CPS, APS ,etc)
Maintain current knowledge of child development, parenting skills, the dynamics of family relationships, and the local network of children’s services.
Conduct weekly house meetings with the children when necessary
Attend trainings pertinent to job performance.
Supervise Children’s Advocate.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Intervention
Experience: Three-five years of working with children
Other: • Ability to work with groups of children of varying ages and development levels. • Willingness to work under stressful situations. • Willingness to work flexible schedules. • Ability to communicate effectively in both orally and in writing
Preferred Other: Bilingual preferred
