Successfully functions as a Pharmacy Technician as defined by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy. Assists Pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications, and maintenance of pharmacy records The pharmacy technician shall perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Follows approved policies, procedures, and protocols, complies with regulatory standards while performing job responsibilities.

A. Assists the pharmacists in preparation, labeling, and delivery of medication for inpatients and outpatients.
B. Prepares and compounds sterile IV preparations including chemotherapy and total parenteral nutrition solutions.
C. Completes medication replenishment of automation technology, 24 hour unit dose cart exchange, and controlled substance distribution. Additionally, must ensure proper documentation is maintained for all preparation, compounding and dispensing.
D. Maintains an adequate stock of medications by restocking, rotating stock, removing expired medications from stock, packaging medications, and ordering supplies. Identifies and communicates problems associated with drug supply.
E. Completes medication replenishment for emergency drug supplies, anesthesia drug supplies, including expiration date tracking.
F. Performs patient billing and crediting of drugs dispensed.
G. Collaboratively establishes priorities that meet the needs of patients, department and staff on a daily basis with awareness of changing needs, and demands to ensure timely pharmacy service delivery.
H. Maintains a neat, clean, orderly, and secure department.
I. Follows departmental policies and procedures related to drug preparation and distribution.
