Under the direction of the Executive Director of Clinical Performance Acceleration, the Sr. Q&S Managing Consultant provides leadership, strategic direction, and operational management to ensure that optimal clinical content tools (i.e. pathways, order sets etc.) and processes are developed to support improved patient outcomes and enhanced clinical workflows across the care continuum with the goal of meeting cost, service, and quality objectives for the Ministry.
Responsible for the development of a comprehensive standardized evidence based clinical content and workflow processes for the purposes of Ministry standardization. The position is responsible for strategic planning, development, coordination, implementation, and sustainability of standardized evidence based clinical content, workflow processes and metrics related to care redesign including care tools within Epic EHR and workflows across the care continuum, care management and care transitions.
Collaborates with senior leaders, physicians, nursing leaders, physician specialty councils and interdisciplinary teams across the ministry to optimize processes and implement clinical and analytic tools which will best meet optimal patient care goals. Works in a highly collaborative manner with department directors and managers involved in clinical care, Finance, TDO, MTS, EPIC and others to make clinical and operational improvements which will maximize the Ministry’s ability to deliver high quality care.
Manages subject matter experts/consultants that are responsible for planning, designing, implementing and optimizing standardized clinical content, workflow processes and metrics across the ministry. The Senior Q&S Managing Consultant will accompany the team on-site at hospitals across the ministry during plan, design, implementation and optimization phases. The Senior Q&S Managing Consultant will conduct quarterly on-site visits post implementation with hospital leadership to ensure sustainability of process improvements.
Participates in hospital executive steering committees to ensure senior leaders stay informed and are engaged in strategic decision making. Develops standard communication channels between MTS, EPIC, and clinical leaders to ensure long-term collaboration and optimization.
The Senior Q&S Managing Consultant will be accountable for metrics that are applicable and appropriate for outcomes, efficiency and to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.
The Q&S Managing Consultant will participate in other projects and duties within the ministry and local Quality and Safety teams as assigned. This position will execute the above job responsibilities for the Mercy ministry and Mercy’s commercial clients as indicated.
Required Education: Master’s in Nursing or another health, science, technology, engineering or business field
Required Experience: Clinical or Engineering background
3 or more years’ experience in leading projects, initiatives or clinical operations at a progressive health system or hospital
Collaborative, knowledgeable of health care environment and challenges, results oriented, change agent, people developer, critical thinker, able to work in the abstract and translate to concrete.
MUST BE WILLING AND ABLE TO TRAVEL 60%-80% of the time for the first nine (9) months of the position.
Doctorate in Nursing or another health, science, technology, engineering or business field
Registered Nurse or other health related field
Preferred Experience: Medium to large hospital organization or integrated delivery system and Epic Experience, Data/Opportunity Analysis, Lean, Change Management
Project Management Professional, SCRUM Master, Informatics, Nursing Specialty certification, Lean or Six Sigma, Evidence Based Practice and Financial Acumen
