    Responsibilities and Qualifications


    The Manager - Talent Development & Education is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the educational strategy and services for all of Mercy Virtual. Designs and maintains the strategic plan to support the implementation of new and existing educational programs to include instructional design, online presentations to include voiceovers and videos, webinars, instructor-led and other creative learning approaches. Projects will require oversight of scope, development of concepts and approaches, training design and development, presentation and facilitation of all educational development initiatives. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

    Responsibilities of Position:

    • Embraces strategic vision, balancing knowledge and understanding of Mercy Virtual Communities, and TDO specific plans and goals. Takes a leadership role in the promotion of Mercy Virtual initiatives.
    • Oversees and provides consultation services to the individual Mercy Virtual programs on a variety of educational and training programs and problem resolution.
    • Educates and promotes the development and use of fundamental organizational development processes throughout Mercy Virtual and assists in identifying training needs versus performance issues.
    • Identifies and works closely with the preceptors for each patient care service lines.
    • Leads curriculum development by providing content and feedback during the development phase as well as post course development with the different service line leaders.
    • Provides project management and support during the implementation of education and organizational development projects, change management and performance improvement focused on change and process improvement.
    • Adheres and enforces all company and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Assists with the development, coordination, delivery and facilitation of education and training of Mercy Virtual programs for leader and co-worker audiences with confidence, preparedness and polished platform skills.
    • Mentors and develops the Education team within Mercy Virtual and related communities.
    • Supports Mercy/Mercy Virtual design of training and education modules, blending sound best practice research, adult learning techniques, creativity, and the mission, values, charism and vision of the Sisters of Mercy.
    • Stewards resources through wise utilization of human resources and sound budgeting practices.
    • Assists in the formulation and coordination of Talent Development processes.
    • Works closely with dyad leaders to ensure education and development process align with the needs of each service line and that all requirements and expectations are being met.
    • Creates content, target audience, job task and learner environment to identify appropriate instructional strategies and defined learning objectives.
    • Uses sound instructional design theory to create storyboards, scripts and course content incorporating graphics, audio, video and simulations as appropriate to engage participants in the learning process.
    • Oversees the development and management of all phases of a project including proposals for strategy, design, technology use, project scope development, assembling of project teams and project plan development, monitoring and reporting.
    • Creates various adult learning principals during development and delivery of courses and mentor others who are teaching/facilitating.
    • Leads the development of evaluation, measurement and reporting methods to show effectiveness of training programs as well as recommended enhancements to improve effectiveness.
    • Designs, develops, and communicates a structured training and development strategy.
    • Teaches/facilitates training programs and manages others who are teaching/facilitating.
    • Manages the Education Specialists to ensure Mercy Virtual branding is followed along with the proper execution and facilitation of content.
    • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

    Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, human resources, communications, or similar area of study required.
    Minimum of five plus years of progressive experience in training and development or related field; demonstrated track record for success.
    Proven track record in e-learning courseware and web-based technologies as well as instructor-led materials.
    Master’s degree in business, marketing, human resources, communications, or similar area of study preferred.
    Management experience, and/or trainer certification preferred. 


    Superior relationship-building and interpersonal skills.

    While performing the duties of this job, the co-worker is regularly required to stand; walk, sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The co-worker is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The co-worker must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
