Why Work on Mercy's Oncology Unit.
The Oncology Unit at Mercy Hospital St. Louis, a 28 bed unit dedicated to caring for patients with cancer and hematologic disorders, allows you to practice not only the science of nursing but also the heart of nursing. We care for patients throughout their journey with cancer, from new diagnosis and treatment to palliative care. Nurses become certified in giving chemotherapy after working on the unit for 6 months. We specialize in end-of-life care, providing compassionate care to patients and families during this time of transition. Consider oncology nursing if you like to be busy and get a sense of satisfaction from being there for your patients and families during critical times in their lives.
