    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Assists patients seeking alternative financing and/or assistance; provides support to patients completing and filing financial statements, Medicaid and other federal program applications. Provides patient education of financial policies; provides ongoing support for Point-of-Service initiatives: focuses on uninsured, underinsured and credit risk patients. Document actions taken, answers patient inquiries, and researches problem accounts. Is a positive role model for other coworkers and provides excellent customer service at all times to both internal and external customers. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

     

    1. Assist patients seeking alternative financing and/or assistance.
    2. Proficient in determining eligibility and completing applications for Medicaid, Health Insurance Exchange and Federal Program assistance.
    3. Educates patients on financial policies. Provides support for Point of Service initiatives.
    4. Answers inquiries involving patient accounts, researches problems and issues, ensures resolution. Clearly and accurately documents actions taken in account notes
    5. Provides excellent customer service at all times to both internal and external customers.
    6. Demonstrates excellent time management skills to perform all tasks in a timely manner.
    7. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with established best practices, designed workflows, policies and procedures.
    8. Routinely interacts effectively with Nursing, Care Management, Medical Records, Business Office and Patient Access.
    9. Maintains acceptable Quality and Productivity Standards on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
    10. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Required Qualifications

    Education:

    High School Degree or equivalent

    Other Skills and Knowledge:

    Personal Computer and Keyboarding skills

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    Education:

    High School degree

    Experience:

    Prior Revenue Cycle, Healthcare billing or Insurance

    Prior Epic Grand Central or Hospital Billing.

    Other Skills and Knowledge:

    Microsoft Excel and Word
