Under the direct supervision of the department supervisor and Chief Nursing officer and upon request of the physician, sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment pulmonary disease and/or illness. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Assesses the neonatal, pediatric, and adult patient and systematically utilizes technical skills to establish the appropriate level of respiratory care to be administered.
Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
Assess and document
breath sounds, respiratory rate, pattern of respirations, and overall ventilator function with each treatment given.
Records oximeter readings when applicable.
Completes certification process for drawing arterial blood by means of puncture or arterial line and demonstrates ability to perform in a manner conducive to patient safety.

Education: Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
Licensure: Maintains current license in the State of Oklahoma.
Certifications: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) or Certified Eligible Therapist.\ BLS
