To provide anesthesia care that has been prescribed by an anesthesiologist. The Anesthesia Department has established protocols for routine anesthesia care which are to be followed unless the anesthesiologist prescribes care that varies from the protocol. In all such instances, the prescribed care will be followed. In Addition, they will respond to requests throughout the hospital for starting infusions, checking endotracheal tube placements, and reintubating when needed.
Demonstrate excellent Punctuality and Attendance according to the Health System standards.
Teach and supervise CRNAs as requested.
Practice "team approach" and accept direction from Anesthesiologist(s).
Demonstrate timeliness of starting and ending cases.
Provide complete and accurate anesthesia documentation.
Demonstrate technical competency in intubation, IV monitoring, and other similar activities necessary to conduct anesthesia:
Demonstrate an excellent knowledge base and overall ability in the administration of anesthesia.
Take appropriate corrective actions in the OR and consult Anesthesiologist when necessary.
Demonstrate a strong and professional rapport and reflect Mercy Service Standards with:
Willing to assist other members of the Anesthesia department.
Respond well to crisis and/or unexpected needs of the group.
Provide exceptional quality care for patients.

Education: Graduate from an accredited anesthesia program. Must participate in departmental activities such as in-service training. Attend local and regional anesthesia meetings. Attend weekly clinical case conferences. Attend monthly CRNA updates where clinical problems are discussed and protocols are reviewed and updated.
Licensure: Advanced Practice License from the state of Missouri.
Certifications: Must be certified by the CCNA and qualify for recertification from the COR when needed.
