    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Primary Function

    Designs, develops, modifies, debugs and evaluates programs for functional or operational areas

    Analyzes complex business problems to be solved with automated systems. Provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements

    Analyzes existing programs or formulates logic for new systems, devises logic procedures, prepares flowcharting, performs coding and tests/debugs programs

    Develops conversion and system implementation plans. Prepares and obtains approval of system and programming documentation. Recommends changes in development, maintenance and system standards

    Configures system settings and options; plans and executes unit, integration and acceptance testing; and creates specifications for systems to meet business requirements

    May train users in conversion and implementation of system


    Key Capabilities
    Codes complex application components based on functional requirements

    Executes complete life cycle for simple to moderately complex application components based on design specifications

    Identifies opportunities for improving application functionality and performance issues by working with customers and architecture resources

    Participates in object modeling design sessions, including interface, sequence, and class diagram or similar concepts in other technologies

    Adheres to defined programming standards, structured coding techniques and generally accepted best practices

    May be responsible for simple peer review

    Applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to moderately complex IT work within a particular Mercy department or function

    Works with project manager to define tasks & create team work plans. May delegate work to others and monitor progress. Identifies issues affecting work progress and recommend solutions

    Resource Estimation
    Estimates effort to complete requirements for small, simpler projects

    Customer Relationship Management
    Accountable for addressing customer needs through individual action or with a “warm handoff”
    Interacts independently with customer subject matter experts

    Education: Bachelor's degree in related field, specialized training, or equivalent work experience Additional Requirements Demonstrates general understanding of full software development life cycle Demonstrates general understanding of code management principles
    Experience: Two (2) years of relevant technical or business work experience
