    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

     

    Education: High School diploma.

    Experience: Minimum of one year experience in Polysomnographic Sleep medicine.


    Certifications: RPSGT certification and or Respiratory Care Practitioner licensed by the state of Missouri required.

    Preferred Experience: Pediatric experience preferred.

     

    Responsible for performing Polysomnographic technology services without supervision by other technical personnel. Tasks include patient hook-up and instruction, monitoring Polysomnographic and audiovisual recordings, scoring records and esophageal pH probe placement Performs duties in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and mercy service standards.

     

    a. Apply physiologic monitoring devices.
    b. Conduct Polysomnographic recordings, document observations and make recording decisions following established policy and procedure.
    c. Troubleshoot equipment and physiologic recording problems.
    d. Assist with respiratory therapy intervention (BiPAP, CPAP and oxygen therapy).
    e. Provide assistance with research subjects including neurological and performance testing as instructed.
    f. Assists patients and bedside staff during test procedures.
    g. Demonstrates proper time management skills and priority setting.
    h. Demonstrates ability to assess and identify actual physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of patient
    and families, and documents in the medical record.
    i. Initiates, updates and maintains care path/protocols in timely manner to reflect changing needs of patients and families.
    j. Implements appropriate interventions in routine situations.
    k. Documents the evaluation of the effectiveness of therapy in relation to patient goals.
    l. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge base related to medications and adheres to hospital policies regarding their administration.
    m. Assures all patient charges/credits are entered appropriately.
    n. Documentation is factual, accurate, organized, complete, current, and confidential.
    o. Identifies patient education needs and utilizes appropriate resources to meet those needs.
    p. Demonstrates flexibility regarding workload, assignments and change.
    q. Demonstrates competence in assisting physician with diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
    r. Observes Medical Center/departmental policies and operational guidelines: Attendance; Tardiness.
