    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

     

    The Skin and Wound Nurse is a professional nurse who has demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the practice and management of patients with altered skin integrity due to acute or chronic wounds.  The Wound Treatment Center Nurse also has demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the pre and post- operative care and education of acute and chronic wounds and functions as a consultant regarding care.  The Wound Treatment Center member's activities reflect collaboration with and support of medical care as directed by the medical staff. 

    Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

    • ASN or BSN
    • Meets the criteria to be eligible for licensure in state of Missouri or currently licensed in the state of Missouri
    • BLS required
    • Has knowledge and skills relevant to assessment, needs and treatment specific to the wound patient.
    • Must have 2 years’ experience in care of acute and chronic wounds, SWOT associate member a plus
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills and educator experience preferred
    • Advanced wound certification preferred
