    The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing skilled professional nursing care to assigned terminally ill patients in their place of residence, as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with the standards of the Missouri Nurse Practice Act. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.


    • The evening night Hospice RNs work as a team covering all patient visit needs throughout the Mercy Hospice region through the evening and night hours.


    • RN shifts will vary and include weekends; some self-scheduling opportunity will be available.


    • RN’s shift will include completing a mix of both scheduled visits as well as crisis visits.

    Position Qualifications:

    • We require a nursing degree from an accredited school.
    • You’ll also need a current RN license in our state.
    • Must be a licensed driver.

    Experience: Two years general nursing experience required.
    Certifications: Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
    Other: Complies with accepted professional standards and practice. Understands Hospice philosophy; principles related to death and dying and pain management. Complies with Mercy Hospice Health Status requirements. Has excellent observation, good nursing assessment and communication skills. Has ability to provide good written documentation in a timely manner. Is self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision. Is flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligation and has ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.

    Preferred Experience: Recent hospice or long term care experience preferred. Experience with issues related to death/dying and bereavement preferred. Must be a licensed driver.
    Preferred Other: Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Windows, Word and Outlook.
