    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Assists in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the operations and patient care in the respiratory care department. Serves as a clinical resource to staff and patients in the department. Functions as a staff member in the department as needed. Performs direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory therapy according to physicians' orders. Assumes managerial duties delegated by the Supervisor, Manager and/or Director. Assess and evaluates employee’s responsibilities in a manner consistent with Corporate Values. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.


    Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

    • Education: Graduate from an Accredited College Program in Respiratory Care. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
    • Licensure: Must have a current license in the State of Missouri.
    • Experience: One year as a respiratory therapist in a hospital setting.
    • Certifications: Registered as a therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care (RRT). BLS. Must be current in ACLS for Adult areas and NRP/PALS if working Neonatal/Pediatric areas
    • Preferred Experience: 3-5 years RRT 
    • Preferred Other: Trained in all areas (ICU, NICU, PICU, ED, CORE) or willing to be trained
