Provide diagnostic sonograms for interpretation by radiologist. Assist radiologist in the performance of procedures and provide the patient care essential to ultrasound interventional guided procedures.

Safety and Risk Management:
a. Locates and properly operates oxygen, suction, blood pressure and other essential
patient care equipment.
b. Consistently observes patients before, during and after procedures, making and using appropriate immobilization devices.
c. Appropriately transfers patients to/from stretchers, wheelchairs and on/off procedure table, giving care to IVs and other appliances.
d. Safely operates all equipment and immediately reports malfunctions, as well as locates all emergency switches.
e. Assures that all data entered/retrieved from physicians orders and/or computer system is accurate, verifying accuracy prior to procedure.
Coordination of Services:
a. Reviews orders for diagnosis and procedure, appropriately scheduling patient and department resources for services.
b. Performs all procedures according to protocol stated in procedure manual, unless directed otherwise by radiologist/physician, presenting completed procedure to radiologist/ physician for interpretation.
c. Collaborates with staff members and physicians to assure delivery of optimal patient care at all times.
d. Demonstrates ability to revise department schedule and staff assignments to meet patient and physician needs and maintain a smooth functioning department with limited rooms and equipment.
e. Assumes responsibility for portions of quality improvement program. Understands all phases. Keeps all documentation current and available, following through with any problem areas.
f. Assists in department orientation program as needed, assuming responsibility of training new staff.
g. Assists staff members in keeping orientation program up to , contributing to development of educational needs, supervision and evaluation of radiology students.
g. Evaluates diagnostic procedure for appropriateness, taking corrective measures if needed, and screening for previous procedures.
a. Provides diagnostic sonograms with the ability to recognize structures visualized.
b. Assists radiologist/physician in ultrasound interventional guided procedures along with providing essential
c. Able to transmit images and troubleshoot PACS.
d. Competent in telemedicine and web cam set up and procedures.
a. Greets patients by name; introduces self; provides patients with thorough explanation of procedures, efficiently performs procedure. Uses good judgment with add-on cases to meet patient needs and department needs without disrupting schedule.
b. Understands safe & proper machine operation. Knows machine emergency procedures and radiation safety procedures. Reviews as needed or at least yearly.
c. Demonstrates technical proficiency in producing diagnostic images with the ability to recognize technical abnormalities. Selects the appropriate techniques for each procedure. Positions patients according to department protocol.
d. Prepares & stocks rooms for various exams; checks equipment between patients; orders supplies as needed. Cleans room and equipment between patients, including patient waiting area.
e. Effectively alters routine procedures when patient condition indicates - making appropriate changes on requisitions. Completes the procedure and charges in the computer system correctly and effeciently.
f. Assists in the transportation of patients, specimens, etc.
g. Works fair share of on-call & weekends. Willing to adjust personal schedule in case of fluctuations in workload or departmental need. Displays flexibility by willingly working in any area or changing scheduled work hours.
h. Maintains alignment with PTO policy. Clocks in and out at scheduled time, no earlier than six minutes before/after scheduled shift: eliminates (when possible) overtime on a weekly basis.
a. Routinely questions patient/family members before a procedure to obtain pertinent patient history, including always questioning female patients as to whether they may be pregnant or nursing.
b. Monitors equipment operation and alerts appropriate personnel of any problems in a timely manner.
c. Keeps managers informed of any issues, problems or situations requiring attention or follow up.
d. Recognizes the need to assist other staff members during the busy times throughout the day, asking what needs to be done and readily volunteering in other areas including office, scheduling, etc.
e. Shares all relevant information at end of shift, reporting both verbally and written when both are possible.
f. Assures all communications regarding patient care are timely and appropriate, recognizing patient crises and initiates appropriate measures.
a. Understands applications and effectively uses hospital and department computer systems.
b. Enters, saves, prints and retrieves information from systems; ensuring that all procedure charges are properly entered/revised in system and/or submitted to appropriate person throughout shift.
c. Performs equipment quality control testing as required.
d. Keeps abreast of new technology. Accepts responsibility for keeping informed of current department practices.
e. Initiates appropriate downtime procedures when necessary.
Time and AttendanceMaintains alignment with PTO policy. Clocks in & out at scheduled time, eliminates (when possible) overtime on a weekly basis
