    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Responsible and accountable for the planning, organizing and controlling the day to day clinical operations of the Clinic. Work independently with delegated authority and responsibility from the Executive Director. Collaborates with the Executive Director in the preparation and management of the daily schedule. Provides clinical leadership through development and maintenance of standards of the clinical practice. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards

     

    1.1 Fulfills patient care responsibilities when assigned to work with a physician. Duties may include rooming patients, obtaining the history, scheduling tests or surgeries and assisting the physician with various procedures, returning patient calls timely and providing pertinent information.

    2.1 Ensures a safe, supportive environment for staff, medical staff, patients, visitors, and students.

    2.2 Executes policies and translations of policies into operational procedures and protocols.

    2.3 Monitors clinical performance and practices. Initiates actions to correct deficiencies

    3.1 In collaboration with Medical Staff Leadership, organizes and implements daily Orthopedic office and call schedule in accordance with department goals and objectives, physician requests and needs.

    4.1 Participates in the development of clinical and departmental objectives with input from staff.

    4.2 Reviews and recommends revisions of policies, operational procedures and protocols annually and as the need arises. Presents plan to Director.

    5.1 Presents program changes, operational policies to staff. Seeks staff feedback about program and policy changes.

    5.2 Executes active quality improvement program with staff participation.

    5.3 Reviews and follows-up on notification forms; monitors trends of incidents and takes appropriate action on risk management issues.

    5.4 Seeks input from affected staff on negotiable issues, policy and procedure

    development and planning of changes.

    5.5 Attends appropriate committees for department representation.

     

    Qualifications:

    Education: High school diploma or equivalent required some college preferred.

    Experience: Minimum five years working in a medical office.

    Certification/Registration:

    Other Skills and Knowledge:

    Basic computer; blood pressure skills, communication skills.

    Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions. Skill in understanding of patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
