    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Patient assessment is managed by using the appropriate policy, protocols and
    standards of practice.

    Evaluates the appropriate documents, therapies, medications and patient responses to
    interventions. Interprets and initiates appropriate actions to changes in patient
    condition and monitoring data, including; vital signs, lab, diagnostic tests and monitor
    readings. Recognizes limitations, and seeking additional assistance if necessary.

    Exhibits clinical expertise by demonstrating or developing proficiency in performing and/or assisting in procedures according to policy and procedures on all equipment in all areas of Peripheral and Cardiac Cath Lab. Ensures limited exposure to ionizing radiation to self, patient, and other staff.

    Provides patient education by assessing and utilizing methods based on the patient and significant other's knowledge base, communication skills, developmental age, ability and readiness to learn.

    Documentation is provided by ensuring that the order for procedure, contrast order, consent and appropriate screening documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner, while working with a high degree of organization to record and resolve problems, and follow through on any outstanding issues. Ensures that the information is legible, concise, accurate, objective and timely, while meeting hospital standards.

    Leadership is provided by directing and coordinating assignments and care given by
    team members based on staff competencies, experience and scope of responsibility.
    Identifies opportunities to improve patient care delivery. Enhances the learning
    opportunities to other staff, and by effectively contributing to the orientation of team members and students. Processes and collects data for performance improvement and monitoring outcomes. Remains informed by utilizing the Intranet, Email, policies/procedures and other written or oral communication methods.

    Develops others by actively encouraging and supporting the professional training and
    development of staff members. Motivates others and communicates goals and
    objectives clearly, demonstrating personal
    commitment and enthusiasm, providing adequate and appropriate information and
    recognizing achievements.

    Takes prompt action to accomplish objectives, going beyond what is required and/or
    expected, identifies and acts on ways to improve existing conditions and processes.




    Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:


    Education: (Minimum) High School diploma or equivalent. 

    Qualifications:  Registered sonographer.


    Experience: Minimum of two years recent clinical experience preferred.

    Certifications: ARDMS/RVT or ARDMS/RDCS or CCI/RCS. Must receive vascular registry within 18 months of hire. BLS/CPR within first year of employment.

    Other: Excellent communication skills needed as well as patient empathy. Call required.

    Preferred Education: College degree.
