Serves as a liaison between specialty physician and patient. Responsible for communicating with patients, assessing and evaluating their needs, and advising the patients of the recommended actions/course of treatment as directed by the Physician.
Under the supervision of the surgeon, performs post operative follow up exams- including drain removal, suture removal and seroma aspirations. Documenting all procedures and findings in EPIC and communicating relevant finding and issues of concern to the physician in a timely manner. Assigns correct post operative charge to post op visit in EPIC.
Evaluates and performs patient assessments according to the nursing process keeping the physician informed of all relevant findings and issues of concern. Instructs patients as necessary and appropriate regarding lymphedema precautions and ROM exercises. Documents assessment and actions in EPIC.
Assists the physician with patient procedures as requested.
Triages patient phone calls evaluating the need for physician or other intervention, providing comprehensive documentation of patient calls in EPIC in a timely manner.
Provides patient & family education as needed.
Calls patients with test and lab results per physician request and Institute policy and calls pharmacy for medication refills as directed by the physician. Documents in EPIC
Performs duties as back up surgical scheduler including coordination of surgeons' block time, communication with off-site surgical facilities, preparation of surgeon's case materials, and communication of information to patients and families.
Schedules tests, procedures, physical therapy and future appointments as directed by physician orders.
Assists surgical department staff with other office duties as necessary.

Licensure: Requires current RN licensure in state of Missouri.
Experience: Minimum of one to two years specialty clinical experience required.
Other: Customer service and computer skills required.
Preferred Experience: Physician office experience preferred.
