    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Pharmacy Technician I:

    The pharmacy technician will help a licensed pharmacist provide medications and other health care products to patients within the hospital or other entities under the in-patient pharmacy’s jurisdiction.  Technicians usually perform routine tasks to help prepare ordered medications for patients.  Technicians will refer any questions regarding orders, drug information, or health matters to a pharmacist.

     

    Pharmacy Technician II:

    Successfully function as a Pharmacy Technician as defined by the Missouri/ Oklahoma/ Arkansas Board of Pharmacy.  The pharmacy technician will help a licensed pharmacist provide medication and other health care products to patients within the hospital or other entities under the in-patient pharmacy’s jurisdiction.  Technicians usually perform routine tasks to help prepare ordered medications for patients.  The certified technician will not have supervisory duties over other technicians but will be a resource person for entry level technicians. Technicians will refer any questions regarding orders, drug information, or health matters to a pharmacist.

     

    Qualifications:

    Pharmacy Tech I:

    Education:  High School Diploma or equivalence exam

    Licensure:  Current Missouri/Oklahoma/Arkansas Technician license in good standings OR upon successful completion of Phase I training as set by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy, trainee may apply for a Pharmacy Technician permit

    Experience:  1 year pharmacy experience preferred but not required

    Certifications:  N/A

    Other:  Successfully complete pharmacy department orientation

     

    Pharmacy Tech II:

    Education:  High School Diploma or equivalence exam

    Licensure:  Current Missouri/Oklahoma/Arkansas Technician license in good standings

    Experience:  1 year Mercy Hospital pharmacy tenure or active PTCB Certification upon hire

    Certifications:  Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred

    Other:   Mercy Hospital Pharmacy tenure of 1 year or greater and completion of Phase I & II training as defined by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy
