    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Functions as a leader to the Environmental Services Tech coworkers. Plans work flow and directs shift activities. Responds to calls from all departments of St. John’s Mercy Hospital and Mercy Doctors Building. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and mercy service standards.


    Develops work shift schedules and assignments. Delegates assignments as appropriate.

    Monitors facility for cleanliness. Performs QI checks of cowrker assignments as needed.

    Responds to requests from all departments for cleaning, set up, moving furniture, etc. Assists with coordiantion of special events/functions.

    Takes on work assignment during times of low staffing/high census. Leads team on project work as needed.

    Completes evaluation two weeks prior to employment date.

    Performs other work duties as assigned by management team.

    Participates/coordinates and schedules educational classes, workouts, in-service and other meetings involving housekeeping department.

    • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
    • Experience: Working knowledge of cleaning procedures in a health care setting.
    • Other:
      • Ability to work with and supervise a diverse group of people.
      • Ability to give constructive criticism.
      • Is organized, self-motivated and has the ability to communicate directions in a clear, concise manner.
      • Serves as a resource person and liason for the department.
    • Preferred Experience: Minimum of one year previous work experience in a leadership role is preferred.
