Under the direct supervision of the Special Procedures supervisor, performs Interventional Radiology and special procedures examinations requiring knowledge and special skills in the operation of a variety of specialized radiographic equipment, radiation safety devices and procedural equipment.
Performs professional neurovascular, peripheral vascular and interventional procedures on a daily basis according to established policies and procedures.
In a caring and compassionate manner, positions and immobilized the patient in order to demonstrate the appropriate structures and anatomy.
Consistently operates special procedures imaging equipment in order to produce optimal quality examinations and in accordance with prescribed radiation safety practices.
Operates imaging network according to department standards and protocols.
Coordinates patient throughput and the flow of care in order to maximize productivity without compromising the quality of care.
Plans and organized professional services in order to optimize the utilization of resources.
Reviews all orders for examinations ensuring accuracy, appropriate clinical information and the completion of all forms and reports prior to the commencement of the exam.
Prepares the exam room in advance by setting up the appropriate supplies and inputting patient data such that the procedure may begin within 10 minutes of the arrival of the patient.
Assembles and displays images for interpretation as needed. Prepares imaging records for final archive processes.
Performs various nursing duties to ensure the safety and comfort of the patient undergoing special procedures.

Education: Graduate of approved school of Radiologic Technology.
Certifications: ARRT registry within 6 months of hire. BLS required.
Preferred Experience: One to three years experience required in cardiac cath and special procedures.
Preferred Certifications: ACLS Certified. One of the ARRT Advanced Vascular Interventional Registries
Preferred Other: NIH Stroke Scale Certification
