    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    The Concierge acts as an ambassador to provide an atmosphere of hospitality and an exceptional experience for visitors, patients, families, staff and all who enter Mercy Hospital-Washington.



    - Greets and welcomes all who enter Mercy Hospital Washington by providing information and assistance through a professional, courteous and friendly manner and with a spirit of hospitality.
    - Serves as front door ambassador.
    - Assists all who enter in any way possible.
    - Knows the layout of the hospital, location of services and physician offices within the buildings (hospital, medical building north, medical building south).
    - Offers directions, escorts and/or wayfinds to appropriate areas as needed.
    - Attends to the needs of visitors while exhibiting a competent and positive attitude.
    - Assists with finding/retrieving wheelchair assistance, as needed.
    - Listens in a participatory manner, observing body language and facial expressions.
    - Communicates with other departments as needed to assist visitors.
    - Obtains taxi rides when needed.
    - Answers questions.
    - Provides information about physician referrals as requested.
    - Serves as a reliable source of information regarding restaurants, hotels, grocery stores, shopping, entertainment, and other services, in close proximity.
    - Models Mercy Signature Service by way of example.


    Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:


    • Education: High school or equivalent required.
    • Licensure: Valid driver's license.
    • Experience: Previous outstanding customer service experience.
    • Other: - Proven ability to effectively and professionally interact and communicate with the public. - Positive attitude. Must be able to remain positive under stress particularly during frequent interruptions. - Excellent communication skills and ability to deal with patients and family members who may be in crisis. - Ability to respond to customers' needs by observing body language, facial expressions and listening in a participatory manner. - Able to multi-task. - Must show initiative/be a self-starter, take ownership, and be able to resolve issues. - Able to assert him/herself in situations. - Must be proactive, team oriented, empathetic, and patient. - Good reasoning ability is needed in order to make decisions as necessary. - Ability to maintain confidentiality. - Ability to work without close supervision. - Basic computer skills.
