    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    The Director, Perioperative will assure the delivery of safe, quality and cost-efficient care by competent staff members in perioperative services. Insures efficient utilization of available resources and meets productivity and/or financial goals. Meets customer satisfaction goals. Works collaboratively and effectively with other administrative personnel, physicians, and staff from other areas throughout the Health System to enhance communication, share pertinent data, and improve processes across the continuum. Performs related duties as assigned. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.


    Assures the availability of patient care personnel competent to meet patient care requirements.


    Participates in patient care when needed.


    Problem solves and performs follow-up activities to respond to and resolve complex situations that arise with:Patients/significant others



    Management staff in nursing and other departments as appropriate

    Other healthcare facilities Community resources.


    Develops, implements, and maintains patient care delivery system to assure the provision of quality patient care by the appropriate mix of licensed and non-licensed staff members.


    Continually evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of patient care delivery.


    Participates in unit-based and system-wide quality improvement activities. Participates in professional and educational activities.


    Performs analysis of patient requirements for care, and of staff ability to meet patient care needs at least annually. Fosters staff development by assuring that needed skills are obtained.


    Develops and maintains effective working relationships with administrative personnel, physicians, and other Health System staff members; with patient and significant others Communicates effectively with Health System personnel to share pertinent data, improve patient care processes, and improve the quality of care delivered.


    Supports policies and procedures; participates in writing, reviewing, and/or revising as Observes universal precautions consistently. Wears proper personal protective equipment when appropriate.

    Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required
    Licensure:  Current RN License
    Experience: Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of progressive management experience required with 3 years in management of perioperative services.

    Other skills & knowledge:  Basic knowledge of the perioperative environment
    (skills, knowledge, abilities)
    Education:  Master’s Degree
