    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Under the direction of the therapist (PT, OT, SLP) or assistant (PTA, OTA), only assists the therapist with therapeutic interventions. The Therapy Services Technician does not provide patient care. Performs designated nonclinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient. Assists with the transportation of patients to and from scheduled therapy appointments as well as other assigned duties.

     

    Safety/Risk Management:
    a. Assists therapists only if second c0-worker is required in the care of the patient. Does this to and acceptable standard of professional ethics by respecting patient confidences and providing care to all persons without regard to personality or medical problems.
    b. Follows proper Policy & Procedure guidelines for Infection Control and completion of incident reports.
    c. Performs communication with other areas in a manner that meets all quality
    improvement requirements.


    Coordination of Services:
    a. Performs appropriate clerical duties pertinent to patient care.
    b. Assists in other areas when coverage is needed.
    c. Manages own workflow and coordinates with schedules of others.
    d. Participate in quality improvement/program evaluation studies that enhance/ensure quality of patient care.
    e. Prioritizes appropriately and utilizes good judgement.

    Primary Aspects:
    a. Assist PT, OT, PTA, or COTA will patient treatment.
    b. Orders and stocks all in house supplies for the department
    c. Transports patients to and from therapy services
    d. Assists in the orientation of new personell
    e. Performs general housekeepng duties
    f. Stocks linen and shelves daily
    g. Demonstrates flexibility regarding workload,a nd any changes in operational processes.


    Communication Management:
    a. Consistently and thoroughly communicates patient's status with appropriate therapists and necessary personel.
    b. Focuses attention and communication on the individual being served.
    c. Communicates patient's schedule with the nursing unit and identifies any schedule changes.


    Technology:
    a. Demonstrates adequate knowledge and use of all therapy equipment.

    • Qualification 1: High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Qualification 2: Must be CPR certified thru the American Heart Assoc
      Excellent communication skills and possess the ability to respond to emergency situations.
