The Medication History Technician is to review, clarify, document and verify with the patient (if possible) prior to or within 24 hours of admission to the hospital. The Medication History Technician will clarify information through communication with the patient, patients’ family, providers, and local pharmacies, of which medications the patient is currently on and/or can be removed Prior To Admission (PTA) to the hospital. The Medication History Technician will be licensed and certified as a pharmacy technician as defined by the Arkansas Board of Pharmacy. The Medication History Technician will also assist Pharmacists in preparation and distribution of medications and maintenance of pharmacy records. The Pharmacy Technician shall perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Demonstrates customer service skills that show compassion, dignity, and care for patients, patient’s family members, and providers. Follows all approved policies, procedures, protocols, and complies with regulatory standards while performing job responsibilities.

Licensure:Current Arkansas Board of Pharmacy Technician License (annual)
Experience:At least 2 years of experience in Pharmacy (hospital or retail).
Certification/Registration:National Pharmacy Technician Certification required. If not
Certified, the applicant is required to obtain Certification within
6 months from date of hire, promotion or start date of the
Other skills & knowledge:(skills, knowledge, abilities)
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use a variety of computer programs including Outlook,
Word and Excel. Must have knowledge of medical and medication terminology. Possess the ability to communicate, function and work with others as a team. Must be able to lift moderately heavy objects, stand for long periods of time and walk long distances. Able to display compassion to patients, families and co-workers.
