    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Functions as a primary staff pharmacist in unit dose and intravenous work areas; performs order entry and order verification functions; compounds and dispenses medications as ordered by physicians and other appropriate prescribers; monitors patient drug therapy to assure safe and effective drug utilization; provides drug information to physicians, nurses and other health professionals; counsels patients regarding proper use of drugs ordered by medical staff; performs monthly inspections of assigned drug storage areas; performs Quality Assurance assignments. Performs all functions in an ethical and legal manner.


    Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:


    Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of science in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
    Licensure: Current license as a pharmacist in the State of Arkansas and fulfillment of annual continuing education requirements of the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy.
    Experience: One-year hospital pharmacy experience or internship preferred.
    Other: Must demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills. Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of each patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirement relative to his/her age-specific needs to provide the care needed. Ability to acquire and apply knowledge of and enforce accrediting agencies’ regulations. Use of desktop computers, copiers, general office and patient care equipment. Typing skills, computer literate. Familiar with infusion devices.
    Preferred Certifications: CPR certification recommended.
