The primary responsibility of the salesperson within healthcare retail is to demonstrate a positive, outgoing and caring attitude towards all customers and patients. Sales in healthcare retail requires the ability to learn new products in health, wellness and gift categories and to explain the function and the benefit of these items to patients and customers. Demonstrates the ability to work all areas in the Gift Shop to ensure smooth operations. Reports to Gift Shop Manager. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

a. Maintains confidentiality at all times.
b. Follows security procedures for opening, closing and reporting potential hazards or security problems.
c. Follows procedure for handling money and keys.
d. Is aware of surroundings and demonstrates the ability to engage customers to minimize potential theft.
e. Adheres to policies and safety rules and regulations, including dress code.
a. Treats all patients, customers and visitors with compassion and respect. Engages all who enter the Gift Shop.
b. Understands and follows customer service standards and expectations.
c. Builds customer clientele by making customer satisfaction the stores top priority.
d. Fosters team approach.
a. Keeps informed on new products and their features and benefits.
b. Communicates inventory needs as appropriate.
c. Moves and stocks merchandise to sales floor.
d. Assists in the physical inventory preparation of all gift shop products. Demonstrates knowledge of merchandise and prices and locations of merchandise in shop and storeroom.
e. Demonstrates knowledge of current retail items and has the ability to "sell" while cross merchandising.
f. Understands special ordering process and procedures for various aspects of Gift shop. For examples but not limited to: personalization, printing, floral, and gift basket preparation.
g. Delivers orders to patients.
h. Adheres to cash register procedures and policy for handling cash and completes necessary paperwork.
i. Knowledgeable of merchandising techniques and follows predetermined plan.
a. Follows departmental policies and procedures and attends all department meetings.
b. Demonstrates effective problem solving and communication skills.
c. Maintains positive working relationships.
d. Performs all other duties as assigned.
