Provides direct and indirect nurse driven care in the interventional pain management setting in both a procedural and clinic setting under the supervision of designated pain management Physicians, Manager and Clinic Coordinators. Candidate motivated to provide patient care continuity that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations directed toward meeting both the psychosocial and physical needs of the patient in a productive efficient manner. Candidate has ability and desire to be part of a high intense fast paced environment working in concert as a valued and integral member of a team in providing effective quality care. Provides direct patient care in a personalized and compassionate manner(Procedural):
A) Responsible for admitting, recovering and discharging patients in the pain center procedure area
B) Identifies physical symptoms and changes and takes appropriate action in a timely manner
C) Observes behavioral and physiologic changes due to medications, takes appropriate actions and documents these observations
D) Uses the nursing process to identify care plan problems
E) Assist patients in/out of the procedure room including transferring patient on/off the procedure table
F) Prepares the patient for the procedure by administering conscious sedation as directed by the attending physician in accordance with nursing standards, supports the physician as needed during the procedure and monitors the patient and is responsive to changes to the patients' health status in accordance with nursing standards
G) Prepares the patient for the procedure by administering conscious sedation as directed by the attending physician in accordance with nursing standards, supports the physician as needed during the procedure and monitors the patient and is responsive to changes to the patients’ health status in accordance with nursing standards. Per Diem nurses will only assist with admission and discharge.
Provides direct patient care in a personalized and compassionate manner(clinical)
A) Provides nurse directed care during clinic visits including a review of the health systems, recording vitals, medication reconciliation, addressing patient concerns pertinent to the evaluation.
B) Assists the referral process utilizing chart review in reviewing supporting documentation
C) Follows up with the patient and enters any physician orders, provides any necessary educational information and obtains any necessary information or consents to provide recommended therapies
D) Assists the patient
A) Communicates verbally and non-verbally in a verbally and non-verbally in a concise, effective and appropriate manner to all hospital personnel, physicians and patients
B) Communicaties with dignity and respect to all personnel, physicians, patients and visitors
C) Reports significant changes in patient and/or clinical area condition to clinical coordinator
D) Utilizes chain of command appropriately
E) Displays a positive attitude
F) Demonstrates cooperation and support as a team member
G) Provides direction to patient care techs, medical assistants and LPN's
H) Handles all patient care calls and inquiries in a timely manner, follows up with patients any pertinent information directed towards their care such as appointments, test results, etc. in a timely manner
Provides a safe environment of care for patients, visitors and staff:
A) Identifies safety, infection control and work environment hazards
Documents in a timely manner which is complete, accurate and legible in all designated areas:
A) Documents in the patients paper and or electronic medical records all pertinent information in accordance with hospital-wide, surgical, outpatient and departmental policy and procedures, completes charge sheet for each patient following the procedure or clinic visit
B) Completes consent forms and medication reconciliation forms
C) Completes other chart forms and flow sheets
D) Submits all paper records for scanning following clinic or procedures
Demonstrates proficiency of basic skills, equipment and procedures specific to the procedure component
Maintains all regulatory requirements and adheres to all hospital policies and standards
Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
Licensure: Current AR Registered Nurse license
Certifications: BLS is required for all Nurses. ACLS is required for Nurses providing sedation. (Clinic and Per Diem Nurses will not work with sedation and will be excluded from ACLS requirements.)
Other: Ability to hear and read effectively. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English Ability to navigate effectively in many computer systems. Ability to work in a team focused environment. Ability to work in a rapid-paced work environment. Ability to work independently. Good problem-solving skills. Ability to provide quality bedside patient care.
Preferred Experience: At least one-year previous experience in clinical nursing preferred.
Preferred Other: Additional languages preferred.
