    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Sets priorities according to the surgery schedule so as equipment and instruments are sterile and available when needed.  Assists the manager in maintaining the QA data for the sterilization process of instrumentation taking the responsibility in maintaining the sterilization logs, temperature and humidity logs and preventative maintenance on the sterilization equipment.  Reporting deficiencies to the manager immediately.  Assisting the their preoperative care of the surgical patient by assisting the nursing staff, anesthesia staff, surgical team as needed.  Assists the manager in maintaining the integrity of the instruments, reporting damaged or missing instruments in a timely fashion.  Assists the manager in the budgetary process in documenting future needs or replacement of equipment and / or instruments and sets.  Has the ability to complete the days work load efficiently and accurately minimizing downtime and wasted supplies.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Experience: Minimum 3 years work experience in a Healthcare Environment and/or a Surgical Tech Student
    • Certification: BLS current
    • Other Skills and Knowledge: Ability to communicate both written and verbal effectively and legibly.
      Ability to evaluate function of all surgical instrumentation.
      Ability to anticipate needs for equipment and instrumentation according to the demands of the surgical schedule.
      Knowledge of instrumentation sterilization requirements, both state and national standards.
      Knowledge and ability to operate all sterilization equipment and maintain requirements for logging all cycles run determined by state regulations.
      Knowledge and ability to log all types of sterilization loads meeting the requirements for each type.
      Ability to set priorities to meet the needs of the surgical team watching for changes in the surgery schedule and case loads.
      Ability to assess specific needs of the surgical team according to the age requirements and procedure requirements of the patient.
      Ability to assist the surgical team pre-operatively by preparing the room for the procedure.
