Under the direction of the RN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patients highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient. Assists in operational support tasks or duties.
1.Demonstrates knowledge of infection control techniques.
2.Assesses safety needs and provides for a safe environment: Fall Precautions; Restraint Management; Patient Identification; Unit/Departmental Specific Policies.
3.Labels and properly secures guests/patients personal property.
4.Adheres to hospital wide safety regulations.
5.Performs equipment safety checks and reports faulty equipment/initiates repair.
6.Follows policy/procedure for completion of incident reports.
7.Follows confidentiality policy/procedure.
8.Complies with patient rights/regulations.
9.Keeps hallways free of equipment and clutter.
Coordination of Services:
a. Assistes in the orientation of new personnel.
b. Acquires, sets up, and properly disposes of supplies and equipment for special procedures.
c. Prioritizes appropriately and uses time wisely
d.Participates in QI activities that ensure and enhance quality of patient care.
a. Administers daily hygiene measures.
b. Performs routines daily activities: ambulation, passes trays, snacks, water.
c. Gathers and records patient data.
d. Performs phlebotomy skills.
e. Observes changes or unusual occurrences in patient condition and reports them immediately to the appropriate personnel.
f. Provides patients and their families with explanation of care and psychological support under the direction of the nurse.
g. Participates in the admission, discharge and transfer of patients and their belongings.
h. Assures all patient charges/credits are entered appropriately.
i. Demonstrates flexibility regarding workload, assignments and change.
a.Accepts delegation of tasks.
b. Comminucates with other members of the HCT to optimize th care of patient
c. Maintains a postive attitude.
d. Demonstrates knowledge of information disemminated in Huddles.
a. Performs unit specid=foc computer functions.
b. Performs clerical duties as needed(ie, answers phones, monitor lights)

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Complete and pass PCA/UAP exam and all applicable PCA/UAP courses within 1 month of hire.
Certifications: AHA BLS or ability to complete AHA BLS prior to completion of orientation
Licensure: CNA, EMT, or Surgical Tech OR applicable experience as listed below
Experience: Documented nursing assistant, EMT or Surgical Tech in a hospital setting in the last 3 years
