The Nutrition Aide performs a variety of services such as assisting patients with menu selections, processing diet orders, checking patient trays for accuracy, maintaining current patient information, menus and related records utilizing the computerized system. Maintains communication with other departments and conveys information accurately for patient diet/menu information, supplies and general information. Works with all areas of the Food Service Department to coordinate patient information / changes in a timely manner with accuracy and courtesy.
Adheres to Department standards which are key to staff understanding of performance expectations and policy compliance.
Maintains all equipment in a safe manner according to department standards. All equipment is maintained in good condition by following operating procedures and reporting problems immediately
Performs documentation to meet departmental and regulatory requirements.
Provides a safe sanitary Food Service area by adhering to all HACCP and FDA guidelines.

Other: Must possess the ability to learn the techniques and skills involved in producing the cold food production. Ability to learn standard methods and practice of the Food Service Department of this hospital. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Must be able to comprehend written and oral instructions; i.e., recipes, production sheets and schedules.
Preferred Education: High school diploma
Preferred Experience: One to two years of food service experience
