Performs ultrasound vascular and cardiovascular procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision. Assumes responsibility for procedures performed. Performs related duties as assigned.
Self motivated with regard to increasing present level of understanding and knowledge of ultrasound field and procedures as they evolve.
Capable of working within the guidelines set by Administration.
Maintains adequate continuing education credits necessary for registration in ultrasound field.
Properly greets and identifies patients, prepares them for exam, and explains procedures to them.
Performs ultrasound vascular procedures.
Performs cardiovascular procedures.
Assists in training new sonographers/students and directs orientation in new techniques.
Obtains properly completed examination request, clinical history, ICD code and charges proper CPT code.
Maintains technical/professional skill and knowledge through continuing education programs and self directed study programs.
Maintains a clean, orderly and safe work area.
Responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies for ultrasound area.
Available to work overtime, hours and/or shifts as deemed necessary by Director of Radiology.
Observes universal precautions consistently.
Wears proper personal protective equipment when appropriate.
Wears clothing and Health System badge consistent with dress code, and attends to personal hygiene to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance.
Meets Health System attendance standards.
Performs other duties as directed.
Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Registry or certification in ultrasound from an accredited two-year allied health program or two years college with emphasis on biological science or equivalent experience.
Licensure: Registry or registry-eligible by America Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) with one year experience in vascular and/or echocardiography work.
Certifications: Current CPR certification.
Other: Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: This individual must be capable of manipulating mobile and other equipment; selecting and manipulating exposure factors; evaluating images; lifting, moving, and transporting patients; continual standing and walking; recognizing emergency situations; adapting to stressful situations; communicating effectively. Vision capable of viewing video monitors, forms, text, and numbers for prolonged periods. Prolonged walking, standing, and lifting/pushing of patients or equipment in the clinic.
